Some of these are well-known but some of them may surprise you. Some of the greatest minds to have lived stayed away from meat which definitely tells us something. 25 is a very short list of the number of compassionate humans, but I have just picked some of my favourites. Enjoy.
- Miley Cyrus
“By not consuming animal products over the years, I have protected myself from preventable diseases and saved the valuable lives of animals that would be turned into breakfast/lunch/dinner.”

“There are no negatives to eating like this. I feel nothing but positive, mentally and physically. I love it. I feel like it also has a kind of a domino effect on the rest of my life.” – Liam managed to convince his brother Chris to try a plant-based diet. Chris made the switch whilst filming the new Avengers AND managed to stay buff. I bet no one asked him where he gets his protein from.
- Jared Leto
“20 solid years of eating vegetarian/vegan and taking care of myself… that probably helps the preservation process.”
- Ariana Grande
“I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-round happier person.”
- Albert Einstein

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances of survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”
- Tobey Maguire
“I don’t judge people who eat meat – that’s not for me to say – but the whole thing just sort of bums me out.”
- Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
“I personally chose to go vegan because I educated myself on factory farming and cruelty to animals, and I suddenly realised that what was on my plate were living things with feelings. And I just couldn’t disconnect myself from it any longer.” – Ellen.”I always thought going vegan would be difficult, but I genuinely don’t crave meat or cheese. And I feel happier, like I’m contributing to making the world a less violent place. Before that morning on the farm, I ranked an animal’s value based on how “human” it was. Now I don’t judge other beings that way—every animal has its own intelligence and sensitivities. They’re all lovely, worthwhile, and deserving of our respect.” – Portia.

“I don’t see why someone should lose their life just so you can have a snack.”
- Stevie Wonder
“I’ve been a vegan for two years, so that’s helped my already good-looking self. I think that eating healthy is important. We have to be about making our planet more greener, the urban areas more sustainable for the children. We can’t just talk about it, we have to be about it.” From the AOL interview.
From his song Pulse 8: “I’m in Nandos with a veggie wrap // Or I’m sitting in Leon, munching a gobi // Whichever one’s nearer // VGang, now I see clearer // No meat, no cheese, no milk, no eggs // Don’t believe me? Ask Sarah // Stop staring, you’re not four-eyed // I only put good food in my jaw-side”

“The really great thing about my shop is that there’s not one dead animal in it. … Manolo’s got a load of fabric shoes as well! We use plastic, fabric, rubber- anything but leather. I almost feel like I’ve been put here to show everyone that it’s unnecessary.”
- Jeremy Corbyn
Corbyn went vegetarian when he was 20 and worked on a pig farm, he got attached to the pigs and has now been vegetarian for over 50 years.

“Do not kill.” There are so many Buddhist quotes that can be interpreted into loving all beings and supporting veganism, but this is a simple one that is in most religions, in most law, and one which people break every day because they believe it doesn’t apply to beings that don’t look like them.
- John Bishop

John Bishop has been vegetarian for over 25 years after working in a meat shop and seeing a cow being slaughtered. Instead of a quote I thought I’d leave you with a joke of his:”How many vegans do you think it takes to change a lightbulb? I reckon it’s about three, one to change the bulb with an energy efficient one and another two to check the label.” Hehe.

“You have to do things, you have to step out and stick up for animals, because they can’t do anything for themselves.”
- Bill Gates
“The future of ‘meat’ is vegan.”
- Russell Simmons

- A$AP Rocky
“You gotta go do research on the way they treat the fucking chickens, man. Those chickens go through fucking torture before they’re processed and shit, have all sorts of fucking steroids injected in them and everything.”

“Whenever I am about to eat meat, I always see my little dog’s eyes.”
In 2013, Ne-Yo tweeted “Went vegan for the new year mainly just to test my discipline but after reading up on animal cruelty and what not, much more meaning to it.” He then dabbled between being vegan and not, until watching What The Health where he made the complete switch and has been vegan ever since.
- Peter Dinklage
Dinklage is an animal rights activist and vegetarian, he even made a video with PETA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKWKUU0XQ8U
- Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell went vegan for a year and then went back to being vegetarian after falling pregnant and finding it difficult to get as many calories. She has been vegetarian since she was 11 and says she’s “never tempted” to eat meat.
So there you have it, a list of some fabulous vegans and vegetarians. Some you might think is surprising but compassion is not limited to just hippies and tree huggers. And you definitely don’t need protein from meat to be hench, right Hemsworth brothers?
